Nao Oikawa(及川 奈央 born April 21, 1981, in Hiroshima Prefecture,[2] Japan) is a Japanese actress, TV Personality and was also a former AV idol who was very popular in early 2000s, who won an Award for Excellence, Best Actress category at the 2005 Adult Broadcasting Awards. Since retiring from the adult entertainment field, Oikawa has become a popular TV personality and singer.
Nao Oikawa was born in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan on April 21, 1981. Her family moved to Tokyo when she was a little girl. n an interview from early 2002 she says that she had already done most of the things she performs in her adult videos with her high school boyfriend, including anal sex, S&M, and public sex.[3] But she says she had never used a vibrator before her AV work, and at least in early 2001, her lovers in private life were only a few (fewer than double digits).[4] At age 18, when she graduated from high school and began design school, she met a scout who proposed she become an AV idol. “That time, my hair was bleached and curly. My agency told me to get my hair back to straight black. One day in the office, one staff picked Oikawa as family name from a book, another staff picked Nao from another book. This is where my stage name came from.”[5][6]
Oikawa made her adult video debut at age nineteen for the Media Station Cosmos label in September 2000.[7] Her second movie, Indecent Woods, in documentary form, has her and the director getting her boyfriends approval for her AV work.[4][8] In her third video, Sister-in-Law is Beautiful Nurse, Oikawa is a divorced woman who returns to work as a nurse and has sex not only with a doctor but also her ex-brother-in-law.[9] Her next video, Uniform Doll, is cosplay with Oikawa dressed as a schoolgirl, bus conductor, waitress, and in a yukata.[10] In her first year of adult work, she made only a few more videos, includung a softcore V-Cinema movie, Virgin Teacher Hinako in September 2001,[11] but her career took off in late 2001 and 2002 when she made a number of videos with both large mainstream companies such as Alice Japan and smaller independent producers (Momotaro). In her December 2001 video for Alice Japan, Inhumanity Nao Oikawa, 10 amateur men come to the video studio and do their best at being porn actors by having sex with Oikawa, using a quiz game to decide the sex position.[12] Her video Fallen Angel X (February 2002) features a 12-man orgy scene, anal sex, and vaginal insertions.[13]
In May 2002, Oikawa began an association with the new KMP Million label which continued until her retirement. Although she continued to work for other video producers, the majority of her films were with KMP, most of them under the direction of Goro Tameike. Her first video with KMP and Tameike, Another Side of Nao Oikawa, involved anal sex and forced fellatio. One of her male partners is famed porn actor Taka Kato[14][15] A second volume of the same series, Another Side of Nao Oikawa 2, was even more hardcore with lesbian strap-on sex, forced fellatio and vomiting, multiple partner fellatio and vibrator play. On a gentler note, Oikawa appeared with Kurumi Morishita in a June 2003 production by KMP entitled Forest in Nude. Directed by TOHJIRO, this lesbian genre video is a “soft, bittersweet story of two friends who remember the days of their youth and the sexual experiences they had”.[18] She appeared in two JAV cosplay videos for JoyDel: Teacher Nao (December 2003),[19] and Nurse Nao (January 2004).[20] These two videos are notable for lacking the mosaic censoring typical of most JAV releases. Oikawas final video, for KMP, was The Woman Called Nao, released June 2004, with the actress nao, which won the 2004 KMP Million Academy Awards Prize.[21] There have since been numerous re-issues and compilations of her earlier videos.
At her peak, Oikawa was one of the most popular and well-known AV Idols in Japan. In 2003 (the earliest date available) she was #1 in the DMM list of the 100 top-ranked actresses by sales on their website.[22] In 2004, even though she had retired in mid-year, she was still ranked #2,[23] and even in 2005 she made the top 50 at #42.[24] Oikawa was also one of the top paid actresses in Japan as well – according to mens magazine Shukan Jitsuwa, “Top blue movie actresses such as Nao Oikawa … can command as much as 5 million yen [about $50,000] per flick”.[25]
Oikawa has been honored for her AV performances several times. She was runner-up to Ryōko Mitake in fan voting for the 2002 AV Grand Prix Best Actress Award from X City.[26] At the 2005 Adult Broadcasting Awards for satellite TV broadcasts in 2004, Oikawas video Fan Appreciation Hot Springs Bus Tour won the Grand Prize for Original Programming and she also gained an Award for Excellence in the Best Actress category.[27]
However, Oikawa has said that she did not always find working in the AV industry to be pleasant. In one early video shot outdoors, she reported that she was “abused on camera both physically and mentally, with the men at the sides enjoying that. Getting hurt mentally is really hard. Much worse than any physical pain. Especially when you see the director getting off on it.”[3] Although many AV stars are ostracized by their families, in a 2005 article in the magazine Tokusatsu Shinsengumi, Oikawa credits her mother with giving her the help she needed: “Without the support from my mother, I never would have made it as an adult video performer”.[28]
Like AV Idols Nana Natsume and Sora Aoi, Oikawa has been able to use her fame in the AV industry to enter mainstream media work. Soon after her retirement from adult videos, she acted in and directed an episode of the Japanese TV horror series Fantazuma: Cursed House or Fantazuma: Noroi no yakata (ファンタズマ〜呪いの館〜) which aired on TV Tokyo in July 2004.[29] She also played a role in the 2004 comedy-horror TV series Template:Nihongo directed by Takashi Shimizu on TV Tokyo [30] and appeared in Episode 7 of Hell Girl or Jigoku shoujo (地獄少女) on Nihon TV in December 2006.[31] On the TV Asahi after midnight massage-parlor drama Kaikan Shokunin (快感職人), Oikawa joined regular cast member Sora Aoi when she guest-starred as the cabaret club girl in Episode 1 (July 8, 2006)[32]

On November 9, 2007 she made a guest appearance in the 6th episode of Tsuburaya Productions mini-series Template:Nihongo playing a bartender named “Alisa”.
Oikawa was cast as Negis advisor “Shizuna Minamoto” in the 2007-08 late-night TV Tokyo series Negima!: Magister Negi Magi based on the manga of the same name about a young male wizard from Wales (Negi, played by a 13-year old girl) and his 31 female students.[33][34][35] More recently, she played the role of villainess Kegalesia in the TV Asahi tokusatsu TV series Engine Sentai Go-onger which ran from February 17, 2008, through February 8, 2009. In the September 21, 2008 episode, Oikawa and her co-stars Rina Aizawa and Yumi Sugimoto teamed up as the one-off G3 Princess singing group,[36] releasing both an EP and a CD box set featuring the groups song “G3 Princess Rap ~Pretty Love Limited~” and Oikawas solo character song “Utopia”. She also will be appearing in the Kamen Rider Decade epilogue portion of the December 2009 film Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Double & Decade: Movie Wars 2010 as the Bee Woman of Shocker. In January 2010 she is due to reprise her role as Kegalesia in the upcoming film Samurai Sentai Shinkenger vs. Go-onger: GinmakuBang!!.[37]
Her hobbies are Tarot divination and calligraphy and she enjoys all types of Japanese food, especially with a glass of sake.[38] As for her sex life, she said in a 2002 interview “I want something normal. I dont want any weird sex … We do weird things for work anyway.”[3]
Oikawa first met Japanese comedian Tomonori Jinnai (陣内智則) sometime in 2003 when he was an unknown. Their relationship continued after his success – Jinnai invited her to be a guest on his radio program “Jinnai Tomonori No Hitoribancho” in October 2005 and they even joined a celebrity curry connosieurs club together. Their relationship soured when Jinnai began dating actress Norika Fujiwara in the summer of 2006 and in November of the same year, Jinnai and Fujiwara announced their engagement. Oikawa was reportedly very upset over the situation.[39]
